WED OCT 18  Acworth Fall Town Hall! The Mayor and Aldermen invite you to come to the Acworth Municipal Court Room (4408 Acworth Industrial Drive) on Wednesday, October 18th. The Town Hall will begin at 6:30pm and you will hear updates on our Downtown Revitalization plans and other exciting projects in the community. We look forward to seeing you!

THU OCT 19 – ABA WOMEN’S LUNCHEON – The ABA Women’s Business Network Luncheon will be held at Rosenwald School 4410 Old Cherokee St, Acworth, GA 30101, from 11:30 until 1:00 pm. This luncheon is open to all women in business and you do not have to be a member of either ABA or KBA Our speaker is Susan Mcelvy, Imagine Consulting Group. RSVP must be completed in advance via www.acworthbusiness.org Carrabba’s Italian Grill will be catering the luncheon. The fee is $20.

THU OCT 19 – COBB EMC’S FREE SAFETY SEMINAR – 6-8pm, Cobb EMC will be hosting a FREE Safety Seminar! In partnership with Cobb County Public Safety and Safe Kids Cobb County, we will be presenting important safety information on protecting your home and family to our members. Learn about cyber security and these areas of safety: car seat, fire, seniors, electrical and seasonal. Seminar will be at held at the Cobb County Safety Village, 1220 Al Bishop Drive in Marietta. FRI OCT 20 – ‘TIP ONE FOR THE TREES’ FUNDRAISER – Marietta Tree Keepers invites you to attend our first beer tasting fundraiser ‘Tip One for the Trees’ for Oktoberfest, from 5-7pm. Come out and enjoy a delicious variety of craft beers, win great raffle prizes, enjoy hors d’oevres, and help support Marietta Tree Keepers. FRI-SAT OCT 20-21 – ALLATOONA HS “HAUNTED TRAIL” – Allatoona High School Fine Arts Department proudly presents its annual HAUNTED TRAIL at Allatoona High School. From7pm-11pm. Tickets are $5.00 and can be purchased at the gate. This is a dimly lit, guided trail walk containing pop-up ghoulish, Halloween entertainment. Best suited for older elementary through adult ages. Groups of 20 of more are eligible for a free ticket. SAT OCT 21 – HARVESTFEST ON THE SQUARE ARTS AND CRAFTS – City of Marietta’s 41st Annual Harvestfest on the Square Arts and Crafts Festival from 9 am-5 pm on the Marietta Square. The HarvestFest is held in conjunction with Halloween Happenings and Scarecrows on the Square, which will feature a scarecrow contest, costume contests for kids and pets, carnival games and prizes. SAT-SAT OCT 21-28 – SCARECROW DAZE – Kennesaw’s Smith-Gilbert Gardens will host their first ever Scarecrow Daze at Smith-Gilbert Gardens. Schools, businesses, and citizens from across the community will submit their scarecrows to be displayed around the gardens for the week leading up to the Garden Gallop 5K on October 28th. Anyone interested in submitting a scarecrow should e-mail their interest to Visitor Services Coordinator Anna Bell King at aking@kennesaw-ga.gov by October 16th. MON OCT 23 – COBB DIAPER DAY – The purpose of Cobb Diaper Day is to collect diapers for low-income families. A community-wide collection will take place at 5 p.m. at Glover Park on the Marietta Square. All donated diapers will be given to The Center for Family Resources, MUST Ministries, Sweetwater Mission, United Military Care and the YWCA of Northwest Georgia to help ease some of the burden of the hundreds of families with infants and young children they serve. THU OCT 26 – “NEVERMORE! EDGAR ALLAN POE – Kennesaw Mountain High School’s Drama Department will present their competition one-act play, Nevermore! Edgar Allan Poe – The Final Mystery at 7:00 pm. The play is so true to the legendary horror and suspense writer that Director Coy Dunn also warns the plays isn’t for children under 12. “It might give young kids nightmares.” Dunn warns. Tickets will be $5 in advance and $8 at the door. Tickets go on sale October 24 and may be purchased at the school.

THU-FRI OCT 26-27 – STRANDEMONIUM JR PERFORMANCE – 7pm at the Strand. Strandemonium, Jr. is back! This is a family friendly Halloween music revue featuring an all-kid cast. Audience members are encouraged to dress up in their Halloween costumes and clap and sing along to this high-energy, creative, SPOOKtacular! Concessions and the gift counter will be open. Tickets on sale soon!

FRI OCT 27 – LAST DAY FOR ACWORTH’S FARMERS MARKET – The Historic Downtown Acworth Farmer’s Market will be held in Historic Downtown Acworth in the Acworth First Baptist Church Parking Lot on the north end of Main Street from 8:00 a.m. until noon.

SAT OCT 28 – GARDEN GALLOP 5K – The Garden Gallop 5K, will take place in downtown Kennesaw. Included are a one-mile fun run for children starting at 7:30 am with the 5K race beginning at 8 am. Proceeds from the race benefit Smith-Gilbert Gardens Foundation, which supports educational programs and the conservation of the live plant collection at Smith-Gilbert Gardens. Participants are encouraged to come in Halloween costumes; awards will be given for best individual and team costume. Registration is open at kennesawgrandprix.com.

SAT OCT 28 – ACWORTH’S HALLOWEEN JAMBOOREE – The event will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Logan Farm Park. For a minimal charge, each child can participate in many different carnival type games and activities where they can win candy and prizes. Be sure your kids wear their favorite costume as we have costume contests, broken up into age groups, going on throughout the event! There will also be a FREE hayride! Parking available at Logan Farm Park (both the Administrative Office and Main Entrances), Roberts School, Rosenwald School, and the corner of Cherokee Street and Northside Drive. SAT OCT 28 – BATTLE OF KENNESAW 2017 – Calling all Martial Arts & Fitness Competitors! The Energy Tae Kwon Do Organization will host the 15th Annual Battle of Kennesaw Martial Arts and Fitness Championships at Furtah Prep School located at 5496 Highway 92 (Acworth). The vision of the Battle of Kennesaw is to provide a safe and fun competition that unites martial artists and fitness competitors in a service project for families in need during the holiday season. SAT OCT 28 – VETERANS LUNCHEON – The Cobb Republican Women’s Club invite the public to join them in honoring our veterans with a Brunch at the Hilton Marietta Conference Center.  Sgt. Clint Van Winkle, Iraqi Freedom Vet, Filmaker and author will be the featured speaker.  Tickets for Veterans are $20 each, for guests $35 per person.  The event begins at 10 am, with lunch is served at 11:00 am.  Call Dee Gay at 770-265-4949 to RSVP by Oct 25.

SAT OCT 28 – MAGICAL FUN FOR FAMILIES – The Southern Museum will host a seasonal event full of magical fun for families with young children from 9:30 am to 5 pm. With a wizarding flair, kids and parents will visit different stations to discover the science behind potions (and even slime!), practice writing with quill pens and invisible ink, learn about stars and astronomy, make a candle, create and play with magical creatures, and even have a chance to design their own wand! Be sure to travel through the invisible tunnel and take a family picture at the haunted forest in your best costume. Sit back and relax from all your activities to watch Monsters, Inc., perfect for this event – playing throughout the day in the theater.Regular museum admission will be charged with no additional program fee. $7.50 for adults, $6.50 for seniors (60+), $5.50 children ages 4 – 12, children ages 0-3 are free.

SAT OCT 28 – DRUG TAKE-BACK DAY – Hosted by the Kennesaw Police Department, the community is welcome to safely dispose of unwanted, unused prescription drugs. Local residents can bring unused prescriptions to the CVS Pharmacy at 2782 Cobb Parkway in Kennesaw from 10 am – 2pm.

SAT OCT 28 – MARIETTA READS! – 10AM-2PM on the Marietta Square. Marietta Reads! is a citywide effort to foster reading and literacy in our community. Join us for performances from Marietta city schools, crafting, storytelling and more fun activities! Activity tickets are $.50 each. Proceeds go to providing literacy activities and incentives tin Marietta City Schools.

SAT OCT 28 – CONCERT AND MOVIE NIGHT AT THE STRAND – Meatloaf Tribute/Rocky Horror Midnight Movie-The evening will open up with a tribute concert performed by the Georgia Players Guild dedicated to both Meatloaf and the original Rocky Horror soundtrack starting at 9pm, and will wrap up with a midnight showing of the original cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Combined show prices are $25 but individual tickets for just the movie or concert are also available – $10 for the movie and $20 for the concert.All tickets are on sale now. SUN OCT 29 – ACWORTH HISTORY AND SOUTHERN CHARM TOUR – BROOKWOOD CHRISTIAN SCHOOL, a private school specializing in Dyslexic students, invites you to their fundraiser: Acworth History and Southern Charm Tour hosted by local historian, Abbie Parks. TUES OCT 31 – FALL FESTIVAL OF FUN – Cobb P.A.R.K.S. along with Cobb County Public Safety, SafeKids Cobb County and Cobb County 4-H are hosting the 18th Annual Fall Festival of Fun at Jim Miller Park. The event will begin at 4:30 p.m. and end at 7:30 p.m. This event will provide the children of Cobb County a safe alternative to the traditional Trick-or-Treat in their neighborhoods. The festival will include arts and crafts, games, inflatable rides, police and fire activities, costume contests for kids and adults, coloring contests, a photo booth and other surprises. Parking, entrance to the park, games, candy and contests are free (there is a fee for concessions and inflatable rides). Come wearing your Halloween costume and be sure to bring a bag to carry all of your candy!

FRI NOV 3 – LAST ART WALK OF THE 2017 SEASON – Art Walk celebrates the vitality of Marietta’s diverse cultural Arts scene with artists, businesses, and organizations representing a variety of artistic disciplines.  The evening comes alive as performance, dance, culinary and visual Art permeates every corner of the charming Historic Marietta Square.  Free, self guided walks, patrons can enjoy gallery openings, live music, and many of the boutiques. SAT NOV 4 – TASTE OF KENNESAW – 11am-7pm downtown Kennesaw – The Kennesaw Business Association and the City of Kennesaw invite you and your family to sample more than 30 local restaurants from the Kennesaw and Cobb County area. Who doesn’t like to eat? This is a great way to sample all your favorite restaurants again and again! Admission is free and samples may be purchased for $1-$4. Beer garden, local entertainment and a kids zone will make this fun for the entire family. The Taste of Kennesaw is presented by Superior Plumbing.

SAT NOV 11 – MARIETTA’S VETERANS DAY PARADE – All are invited to come line the streets for a moving and memorable tribute to our Military Forces at the Annual Veterans Day Parade at 11:00 am. American pride will be on display as distinguished war heroes, JROTC troops and Patriot Guard Riders will be among the participants. There will be spectacular floats, military vehicles and vintage cars. The parade will begin at the Roswell Street Baptist Church at 10:45am and march up towards the Marietta Square and back down Lawrence Street with the intention of being on the Square by 11:11am. Please attend and help the City of Marietta and the Kiwanis Club of Marietta honor all veterans and commemorate those who have paid the ultimate price in serving the United States of America.

SAT NOV 11 – MARIETTA TREE KEEPERS NOVEMBER PLANTING – We will be planting trees at City of Marietta Maintenance Building (near Lewis Park) in Marietta. The address is: 434 Sessions Street, Marietta, Georgia 30060. 9:00am. Dress for the weather.  Tools and gloves included.  Donuts, hot chocolate and hot coffee provided.  In case of bad weather please call 770-424-4664 for weather updates and rain date. SAT NOV 11 – CHEROKEE HEIGHTS ARTS FESTIVAL – 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Etowah Drive between Freyer and Seminole Drives in Marietta. Free admission and parking. Enjoy a unique Cobb County experience; visit a real neighborhood where neighbors actually produce their own arts festival and invite the world to celebrate with them! Featuring local artists in free performances throughout the day. Lovingly made local arts and crafts include original paintings, hand-made pasta, pottery, graphics, photography, jewelry, metal work, textiles, baked goods, original books and poetry, and much more.

FRI NOV 17 – JOHN BERRY IN CONCERT – The Marietta Performing Arts Center at Marietta High School welcomes well-known recording artist John Berry at 7:30 pm. Get ready for an entertaining and heartwarming evening of songs and stories as John kicks off his annual Christmas tour. FARMER’S MARKETS – LOCAL

MONDAYS  – FARMERS MARKET & DINNER AT THE DEPOT – downtown Kennesaw.  Hours are 5:30 – 8:30 for food trucks, 3:30 to 7:30 for farmer’s market – we made a bigger overlap so people could shop both. Great mix of new and existing vendors in the farmer’s market. Live music each week and other entertainment and surprises throughout the season. A good variety of rotating savory and dessert trucks. Family friendly environment, dining outside and neighborhood block party. Picnic tables will be provided, but guests are always welcome to bring their own blankets and chairs.

FRIDAYS – ACWORTH FARMERS MARKET – The Historic Downtown Acworth Farmer’s Market will begin this season on Friday, April 7 and continue each Friday morning from 8:00 a.m. until noon through Friday, October 27.  The market is located in the Acworth First Baptist Church Parking Lot on the north end of Main Street. Shop a wide variety of garden ripe Georgia grown vegetables, eggs, cheese, bedding plants, fresh baked bread, pies, cakes, honey and jams to choose from each week. SAT/SUN  – MARIETTA FARMER’S MARKET. Year round on Saturdays from 9am-12pm. Sundays: May-October – 12 pm till 3 pm. Takes up residence on N. Park Square. Market customers have lots of variety to choose from including heirloom tomatoes, fruits and vegetables that are rarely, available from the grocery store. Plus lots of the staples such as potatoes, onions, tomatoes, squash, beans, amazing cut flower arrangements, local honey, herbal soaps, whole grain breads, fudge pies, jelly, jam and preserves. MARIETTA SQUARE ART WALK – The first Friday of each month starting in March through November. FRIDAY/SATURDAYS 

“Lumiere Lounge” (6-10pm) on the second floor at the Strand Theatre Come to the Strand and pay homage to the days of old with a silent film inspired piano bar and lounge! As you sink into a plush couch or join a friend at a café table, the modern world seems to drift away as classic silent films quietly flicker in the background while a live pianist plays. The Lumière Lounge will feature specialty cocktails made with local ‘Hometown Honey’ in addition to a full bar. Lumière is held on the second floor lounge on select Friday and Saturday nights from 6-10pm starting during the winter months. SATURDAYS  MARIETTA SQUARE ARTISAN MARKET is on Second and Fourth Saturdays.  April through November. The Marietta Square Artisan Market is an open-air showcase of locally-created fine art and premium hand-crafted goods. It is held on the 2nd and 4th Saturday from 9 am until 2 pm from April to November. Enjoy the paintings, drawings, and photography of fine artists settled alongside skilled craftspeople who feature an eclectic roster of distinctive goods including fire pits, cutting boards, terraria, pens, and fine jewelry.
