MEET LEO MAZZONE On April 13 in Acworth

Greg Carter, Manager of Gabriels Old Mill in Acworth, invites the public to a meet and greet for Leo Mazzone on Thursday, April 13 at 4:00 pm..  Mazzone was the pitching coach for the Braves during the time of Tom Glavine, John Smoltz, and Greg Maddox.  He has been heralded by Sports Illustrated as the greatest assistant coach.  Leo will be signing autographs and wants folks to know that a small donation to the Companion Animal Connection (Waleska, GA) would be deeply appreciated.

Parents this is an awesome opportunity to have your young baseball players meet Leo Mazzone. We know he would love to see some baseball players!

chalktoberfestSAT-SUN OCT 8-9 CHALKTOBERFEST – on the Square in Marietta.  Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art  presents its annual Chalktoberfest that takes place around the Marietta Square and down Atlanta Street to the museum. This year, the Chalktoberfest theme is “Old Masters” and will feature over 80 contracted, professional chalk artists from around the US, Mexico and Canada. Artists will draw in front of spectators during both dates from 10a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission to MCMA is free for the duration of the festival.
On Saturday, Oct. 8th, Chalktoberfest includes their annual Craft Beer Festival in conjunction with the Chalk Festival.  This Craft Beer Festival allows visitors to walk around and enjoy the Chalk Art while drinking samples. Chalktoberfest will feature an after hours concert in the Park with live music by A1A the Jimmy Buffet Tribute Band starting at 6:00pm.  Check the Chalktoberfest Website for the purchase of concert tables.
On Sunday, Oct. 9th, Chalktoberfest will bring in their Creative Kids craft-making section 1:00pm – 5:00pm, geared toward children of all ages – and host their non-professional Chalk Competition with Youth, Teen, School, and Adult Divisions.  Competition starts at 10:00am.  Winners announced at 3:00pm.  The Professional Chalk area will be available to view until 8:00pm Sunday night.

THU-SUN OCT 6-16 – “HAMLET” – at Theatre in the Square, Marietta. The show, directed by Emil Thomas, is set in a contemporary world.‘I am excited to be bringing a contemporary version of Hamlet to Marietta,’ says Thomas. ‘I think it will put a new twist on the play and really entertain’. FRI-SAT OCT 7-8 – ALLATOONA BOOK FESTIVAL – Award-winning author Janisse Ray will keynote the Allatoona Book Festival at the Roberts Community Center in Acworth which will include speakers, panels and workshops featuring area authors specializing in a variety of genres. Saturday includes a full day of workshops, panels and speakers starting at 8:30 a.m. with breakfast hosted by Acworth Tourism. The event is sponsored by the Acworth Cultural Arts Center. It is free and open to the public.

Join us for a high-energy, non-stop hour of fun recalling the great hits of the past featuring the 24 talented singers, dancers, and actors of CCCEPA’s premier musical theatre troupe, ComPAny 2017. SAT OCT 8 – TIM CRUNK MEMORIAL 5K – The event starts at 8AM with a 1 Mile Fun Run for Kids beginning at 9AM. Registration begins at 7AM.  The course is spread out around Cedarcrest Church and includes running through neighborhoods bordering Lake Allatoona. Free Book, CD & DVD Swap Returns on January 9

Book CD DVD SwapKennesaw Parks & Recreation’s annual Book, CD, and DVD Swap returns on Saturday, January 9 to the Ben Robertson Community Center, 2753 Watts Drive.

Drop off your gently used hardcover or paperback books, music CDs and DVD movies on Thursday and Friday, January 7-8 from noon to 8 pm and receive a ticket redeemable for the same number of items during “open swap” time on Saturday from 8-11 am.

Books must have their front and back covers intact and be in good condition. CDs and DVDs must be in their original cases and fully operable. Magazines, software, record albums, VHS or cassette tapes, adult content, unauthorized or illegal material will not be accepted. After the event, all unclaimed items will be donated to charitable organizations.

This is not a book sale. It is a FREE media swap. Items will not be available for purchase.

Assistance is needed during the event with receiving, sorting, counting and bagging items. Volunteers must have the ability to bend, stoop, stand and lift up to 20lbs.

Paul’s Pot Pies Grand Opening

No cooking dinner tonight when you purchase one of Paul’s Pot Pies, just add a salad.  Each savory pie is handmade with only the finest and freshest ingredients.  Paul is located  at 2750 Jiles Rd., Kennesaw (behind Publix).  Not just your ordinary chicken pie, Paul provides a wide variety to choose from, including turkey, beef, sausage and of course chicken.  Pies come with instructions for baking. Open Mon-Fri at 11, Sat at 10.
