COMIC AND TOY SHOW AT KENNESAW MOUNTAIN HIGH SCHOOL

Saturday August 12; 10-5 pm

Kennesaw Mountain High School will host their third annual Kennesaw Comic and Toy Show Saturday, August 12 at the school’s Fine Arts Building.  The event will have vendors selling, buying and trading comics, cards, toys, action figures, GI Joes, original art, jewelry, vintage records, video games, books, and more.  In addition, there will trivia games, costume contests, card tournaments, discussion panels, special demonstrations, and a concession stand.

“Last year we had over 400 people attend, so we are hoping to grow even more this year” Carson Colenbaugh, senior on the Drama Leadership Team stated.  “I know a lot of my friends are excited about it.  It was so much fun last year!”
The event is a fund raiser for the school’s theater’s lighting and sound equipment.
“It’s a unique way for us to raise some money for our school and for the students and community to have the own little ‘Dragon Con’.” Added senior Nick Haddad.

“Last year, we had a wide range of vendors selling new and new items, as well as artists, and people promoting their websites and other events.  This year we have a special effects makeup session, and a cos play workshop.”  Noted the event coordinator and theatre director, Coy Dunn.

“It’s a great event for people of all ages.   With the popularity of all the comic book television shows and movies that are currently being produced, we thought we would try it. We have been extremely proud of the results!  It has now became a popular annual event.”   Dunn added.

The show is from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and admission for the event is five dollars. Go to kmhsdrama.com for more details.

“As it has done from the start, Marietta Reads! continues to have a significant impact on reading in our schools, and in engaging our community to improve literacy,” said Jill Sims, MCS Executive Director, Curriculum and Instruction. “Across the school district, we reinforce the importance of reading to all of our students every day, and Marietta Reads! makes a difference.”
