Fall Happenings through October 13.

Lots going on in Acworth, Kennesaw, and Marietta through October 13.  Below are some of the highlighted events.

FRI OCT 4 – FIRST FRIDAY ART WALK – Last art walk for 2013!  Come enjoy this free, self guided tour of Marietta’s diverse art scene from 5pm-9pm.  To learn more visit www.artwalkmarietta.com

FRI OCT 5 – MARIETTA TREE KEEPERS – SIP N’ STROLL – The event features a special neighborhood to tour with tree experts, identifying common opportunities and issues relating to trees. It’s free and open to the public … and it’s BYOB. For this Sip n’ Stroll, we will stroll through the property of Ivey Grove at 473 Cherokee St, Marietta, 30060 Certified arborists, forester and landscape architects will lead the tour of the neighborhood, pointing out the many treasures and challenges that exist among our valuable stock of trees.  Visitors are welcome to bring their own evening refreshments and MTK

SAT OCT 5 – “ADOPTATHON” – Hosted by Cobb County Animal Control – from 10am-4pm. This event is part of CCAC’s continuing efforts to help find homes for the homeless animals of Cobb County through public awareness and working closely with the community to find more fur-ever homes for the homeless and abandoned animals at the Shelter.  For more info visit www.cobbanimalcontrol.org.

SAT OCT 5 – OKTOBERFEST – 10am-7pm hosted by Holy Trinity Lutheran Church located at 2922 Sandy Plains Road, Marietta.  safe, inexpensive and fun filled day to benefit MUST Ministries Food Pantry.  The public is invited to come and get in FREE by donating 4 cans of nonperishable food for the food pantry.  For more details visit www.holytrinitymarietta.org and click Oktoberfest or call 770-971-4600.

SAT OCT 5 – SPRINGVILLE SPRINT 5K AND FUN RUN – Hosted by First Baptist Church of Powder Springs.  Beginning at 8am, this is the official race of Powder Springs Day and is charity event supporting Brighton Their World ministry.  Visit www.fbcps.org (type in springville sprint in the search box to obtain a form to register) or register online at Active.com $20 until Sept 30, after which it is $25.

SAT OCT 5 – 175TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION and POWDER SPRINGS FESTIVAL – Parade begins at 10am in downtown Powder Springs.  The festival includes arts and crafts, festival food, and local entertainment continues until 4pm.  Birthday celebration kicks off at the town square at 6pm with a concert featuring Little River Band and concludes with fireworks.  For more info, visit www.cityofpowdersprings.org.

WED OCT 9 – “HAWK TALK” – The Marietta Council of Garden Clubs in you to their monthly meeting.  Beginning at 9:30am at the Marietta Educational Garden Center, 505 Kennesaw Ave. Marietta.  Speaker will be Monteen McCord of HawkTalk, who will talk about rescuing and rehabilitation of raptors in the GA area.  Call 770-427-3494 for more info.

FRI. OCT 11 – Marietta Schools Foundation invite you to celebrate Homecoming from 5-7:30 on Winn Street.  Marietta.  Bring a blanket and chairs and join fellow MHS graduates on Winn Street – Grab a bite from one of our featured food trucks and enjoy music by Bert Reeves. SAT. OCT 12 – Fall-O-Ween Fest and Outdoor Movie – Swift Cantrell Park.  Beginning at 5pm, enjoy free and pay-to-play inflatables and a trackless train, games, Trick or Treat trail, craft’s scarecrow and pumpkin displays, and costume contest!  At 7:30, the outdoor movie FREE screening of “Hotel Transylvania” begins.  For more info, visit www.kennesaw-ga.gov/pkrec or call 770-422-9714.

SAT OCT 12 – TASTE OF ACWORTH – from 10am-6pm, Main Street in downtown Acworth.  The event will host 150 booths from local restaurants and businesses.  Live entertainment provided throughout the day.  Infamous dog show is back this year! SUN. OCT 13 – KHMS HOMECOMING PARADE – 2:00pm, downtown Kennesaw.  Celebrate Homecoming week for Kennesaw Mountain High School by attending the parade.  Then buy a ticket and attend the homecoming game on Friday, October 18th at 7:30 against Hillgrove High.

SUN OCT 13 6:00 PM. KENNESAW SUNDAY SUPPERS. Last Sunday Supper at the Plaza. October 13, 6pm with smoked pork BBque, smoked turkey, smoked chicken with potato salad, cole slaw, apple cobbler.The theme is a Hoe Down Kennesaw Style. Come dressed western attire.  Tickets $25.
