I do believe our community of Acworth, Kennesaw and Marietta has more events to chose from than any other place on Earth.  Most are free and geared toward fun and the family.  Several to chose from this week:

ffff2015v2WEEKENDS IN AUGUST THRU SEPT 13 – FREE FAMILY FILM FESTIVAL – NCG Cinema in Acworth and NCG Cinema in Marietta will be hosting their annual family film festival Friday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings during August until September 13th. Doors open at 9am, movies start at 9:30am. Free tickets available at the theater on the day of the show, first come first serve basis.

FRI AUG 14-SUN AUG 30 PETER PAN Based on J.M. Barrie’s classic tale and featuring an unforgettable score, Peter Pan is one of the most beloved and frequently performed family favorites of all time. Peter and his mischievous fairy sidekick Tinkerbell visit the nursery of the Darling children late one night and with a sprinkle of pixie dust begin a magical journey across the stars that none of them will ever forget. FRI AUG 14 – MARTINIS AND MUSIC 5:30-8:30. At the Marietta Cobb Art Museum. SAT AUG 15 – HARRISON BANDS RECYCLE DAY – 9AM-5PM at upper parking lot of Harrison HS. Bring your electronics and paint that need to be recycles. $10 requested donation per car load. Processing fees extra for tv’s, computer monitors and paint. For more info email harrisonrecycling@gmail.com.

Rob ONeillSAT AUG 15 – MEET NAVY SEAL ROB O’NEILL – An Evening with Navy SEAL Senior Chief Rob O’Neill” at 7:00 pm at Marietta Performing Arts Center at Marietta High School. Rob was Team Leader of “SEAL Team 6” on the raid when they caught Osama Ben Laden. Tickets are $45 – General Admission; $35 – Active Military/Veteran General Admission. SAT AUG 15 – The Lynching of Leo Frank.  Senior Assistant Attorney General and former Marietta City Councilman Van Pearlberg will be presenting a free lecture on the Leo Frank Case on the 100th anniversary of his lynching. SUN AUG 16 – KENNESAW STATE FALL FESTIVAL – Open to the public. Begins at 1:30. Fans will have the opportunity to meet the football team. Soccer game at 4:00.  Ticket holders may pick up tickets.

MON AUG 17-NOV 29 Southern Museum To Host Leo Frank Exhibit The Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History will explore the 100th anniversary of the infamous Leo Frank lynching with a series of special programs and a three-month-long exhibit interpreting the event, from Aug. 17- Nov. 29.  The museum is located at 2829 Cherokee St NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144 (770) 427-2117. TUES AUG 18- The Lynching of Leo Frank Senior Assistant Attorney General and former Marietta City Councilman Van Pearlberg will be presenting a free lecture on the Leo Frank Case on the 100th anniversary of his lynching.  The lecture will be held Aug 18, 7:00 pm at the Marietta Museum of History 1 Depot St., Marietta.

SAT AUG 22 – NORTH GEORGIA REGIONAL SILENT ART AUCTION – Benefitting art programs in Acworth will be at the Acworth Gallery, 4531 Lemon St, Acworth from 6-9pm.  Continues at 30 businesses in Acworth throughout the month.
