Join us for a three-day celebration of the West including three art exhibitions: Today’s West! Contemporary Art from the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, Taking the Reins! The Art of Donna Howell-Sickles, and Windows of the Soul: A Portrait of America by Susan K. Friedland; featured artist Martin Grelle; featured entertainers Don Edwards and Waddie Mitchell; the finals of the High School Cowboy Poetry contest; children’s activities; cowboy church; live entertainment featuring Buffalo Bill and Annie Oakley, Steve Porter and Tom Kerlin, The Old Mill Road Band, and April Wehunt; the Southeastern Chuck Wagon Cook-off; and much more!

chuckwagonCHUCK WAGON COOK OFF

The largest Chuck Wagon Cook-off east of the Mississippi is set for Saturday! On Saturday, March 8 from 8:00 am to noon, seven teams of cooks will gather on the Museum Festival Grounds to compete in the Southeastern Chuck Wagon Cook-off! This event is designed to educate the public about the importance of the chuck wagon to the cowboys of the mid to late 1800s cattle drive era. Each team will prepare five dishes: potatoes, beans, bread, dessert, and meat. Ticket holders will be served at High Noon. Tickets are $15 and should be purchased in advance by calling 770-387-1300 or by visiting the Museum. The winners of the competition will be announced at 2:00 pm.

singersGATHERING CONCERT

The Cowboy voices of Don Edwards and Waddie Mitchell team up with sounds of the Tumbleweed Cowboys for a performance of The Bard and the Balladeer. Edwards, America’s Cowboy Balladeer, and Mitchell, the Buckaroo Poet, blend their individual gifts of song and story that result in a musical celebration of the great American West. The Gathering Concert is this Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 7:00 pm in the historic Grand Theatre. Tickets for the concert are available to Booth Museum members for $25 and $30 for not-yet-members.* Tickets can be purchased by calling the Museum at 770-387-1300, the Grand Theatre Box Office at 770-386-7343, or online at www.thegrandtheatre.org.
