The Youth Museum’s Fundraiser – Sept 6.

AUCTION ItemsThe Youth Museum is holding its Twelfth Annual BBQ and Silent Auction on Saturday, September 6, 2014, 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, celebrating over 44 years of serving students in Cobb County and the metro area. Delicious BBQ by Sam Huff’s BBQ-1, live music by Old Mill Road Band, tours of the Museum’s current exhibit, “America’s Pathways to Independence” and a fabulous Silent Auction will be the highlights of the evening. Sam Heaton, Director of Cobb County Department of Public Safety, will be the emcee.

Businesses and individuals are invited to invest in the education and future of the children who visit the Youth Museum. The children do not forget their experiences and the Museum represents opportunities for learning in the best possible way – individual personal involvement.

Whole Hawg Happenin BBQ and Music Fest

WHOLEHAWG1The great barbecue of the South is the focus of the Annual Whole Hawg Happenin’ – a BBQ & Music Fest taking place on the Marietta Square on September 29, 2013 from 11am to 6pm.

All proceeds of the Whole Hawg Happenin’ BBQ and Music Fest benefit the The Earl Smith Strand Theatre, The Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art, The Gone with the Wind Museum and The Marietta Museum of History.

The best metro Atlanta area restaurants and caterers will be on hand offering samples of their tasty bbq and other dishes while a variety of bands will be playing throughout the day.

Attendance is free and tastes of BBQ range from $.50 – $5.00. There will be live music all day, a Classic Car Show, Arts and Crafts, a Beer Garden, and a huge Kids Corner!  And Banks and Shane will take the stage from 4 till 6 pm.

SMOKE ON THE LAKE BBQ FESTIVAL

2013_smoke_logoThe Barbecue season kicks off the year with one of the first competitions in north Georgia. More than 30 teams will fill up Cauble Park in downtown Acworth on Friday May 10, from 6:00 p.m., to 10:00 p.m., and Saturday May 11, from 10:00 a.m., to 4:00 p.m. Admission to the festival is free and free parking can be found downtown with free shuttles running Friday night and all day Saturday.

Friday May 10, Sons of Sailors, a Jimmy Buffett tribute band takes to the Day’s Chevrolet stage at 8:00 p.m. Reserved tables that seat six can be purchased for $50. The Georgia Barbecue Association BBQ cooking competition will continue all night along the banks of beautiful Lake Acworth and the event will open back up to the public on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. You can visit the Taster’s Tent to taste all the BBQ you desire, as the Taster’s Choice award will be decided by patrons of the event. Tickets to taste the backyard teams BBQ will be on sale for a nominal charge.

Activities for the kids will be in the Kids Zone and the music that we all know and love will be played acoustically as Scott Thompson of Peachtree Station will perform from 11:00 a.m., to 3:00 p.m., on Saturday with the awards given out immediately following the finals of the cook competition at 4:00 p.m.

After several weekends of rain – we hear Mother Nature has a wonderful sunny weekend in store!
