Clear Out Your Bookshelves and Swap Your Old Stories for New Adventures

bookcddvdswap_kidsKennesaw Parks & Recreation’s is hosting its popular Book, CD & DVD Swap at the Ben Robertson Community Center, 2753 Watts Drive, on Saturday, January 28 from 8 to 11 a.m.

You still have time to  drop off gently used hardcover or paperback books, music CDs and DVD movies  Friday, January 27 from 12 to 8 p.m. and receive a ticket redeemable for the same number of items during “open swap” time on Saturday, January 28.

Books must have their front and back covers intact and be in good condition. CDs and DVDs must be in their original cases and fully operable. Magazines, software, record albums, VHS or cassette tapes, adult content, unauthorized or illegal material will not be accepted.

After the event, all unclaimed items will be donated to charitable organizations.

This is not a book sale. It is a FREE media swap. Items will not be available for purchase.

Assistance is needed during the event with receiving, sorting, counting and bagging items. Volunteers must have the ability to bend, stoop, stand and lift up to 20lbs. To sign up for a volunteer shift, visit kennesawparksandrec.com and click on “Volunteers.”

Calling all Veterans in Kennesaw and Acworth – Nov 11

Kennesaw Offers Free Lunch to Honor Vets

vetslunchIn recognition of Veterans Day, the City of Kennesaw will honor the service of military members past and present with a complimentary lunch on Monday, November 11 from noon to 2 pm at the Ben Robertson Community Center, 2753 Watts Drive.

“Veterans Day is a special day we set aside to honor the service and sacrifice of those who served in our military and their families,” said Kennesaw City Councilman Tim Killingsworth, a former US Marine. “This is one small way to acknowledge their contribution in protecting and defending American freedoms.”

North Cobb American Legion Post 304 is partnering with Kennesaw city officials to host the lunch.  Thanks to additional sponsors California Dreaming Restaurant, Whole Foods Market, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Papa John’s Pizza, SCANA Energy, Jim Tidwell Ford, Amason Family Dentistry, and Think Melissa Real Estate Team.

All veterans and active duty military are invited to attend and no identification will be required.
