Celebrate the 4th on Marietta Square

fireworks2Grab your American flag, put on your red, white and blue, and celebrate America’s independence July 4, from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. with an Independence Day parade and celebration on the Square presented by Superior Plumbing, free live concerts, arts and crafts show, food, carnival games and the City of Marietta fireworks finale. Throughout the day, more than 80,000 people are expected to celebrate on the Square with great food, fun activities, the best arts and crafts around and free entertainment from Zach Seabaugh, a hometown boy who was a finalist on the hit television show The Voice. His popularity continues to flourish as he begins performing to growing audiences on bigger stages. Opening for Seabaugh is Presley Sullivan, a featured artist on 94.9 The Bull’s Backyard Country. Concerts are presented by 94.9 The Bull.

Parade
The Marietta Independence Day parade is scheduled to include more than 115 entries with more than 40 floats and approximately 2,000 participants. Entries include marching units from the City of Marietta, civic organizations, beauty queens, scouts and local businesses. The parade begins at 10 a.m. at Roswell Street Baptist Church and travels west on Roswell Street, north on East Park Square past Glover Park and the Square, down Cherokee Street and ends at North Marietta Parkway.

Crafts, food and carnival
Visit the Arts and crafts show with nearly 100 unique handcrafted vendors: 10 a.m.-9 p.m.  Enjoy lunch or dinner, or just snacking at the Food concessions: Anything to please the palate from ice products to cool you down to corndogs and BBQ to satisfy your appetite. 10 a.m.-9 p.m.

The City of Marietta fireworks display is scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m. and will be shot from the First United Methodist Church parking lot. If bad weather is expected, the fireworks may begin a few minutes early, to ensure the entire display is completed. If you want to watch the fireworks, make sure you get there early to grab a spot because traffic is expected to be heavy.

Concert Tables: Concert tables are available for purchase in 8-tops and 6-tops for $100 and $80 respectively. Tables can be claimed beginning at 5:30 p.m. on the fourth and you can purchase one by calling 770.423.1330., or email Peter Jezerinac at pjezerinac@jrmmanagement.com.

Taste of Smyrna – Sat. Sept 13

logoTaste of Smyrna “Festival of Delectable” presented by Superior Plumbing is coming to satisfy palates, quench your thirst, fulfill your need for music & entertainment and please the kids, all in one day!!!  We are very excited to announce that you will be able to sample all Smyrna restaurants have to offer on Saturday, September 13th from 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM on the beautiful Village Green and Market Village in downtown Smyrna.

Admission is FREE and samples may be purchased from 1 dollar up to 4 dollars.  We are expecting over 25 restaurants including those that participated in 2013, like- Atkins Park, Fuddruckers, Copeland’s of New Orleans, Marietta Fish Market, Zucca, Meehan’s Public House, Jock’s and Jill’s, Wing Zone, Williamson Bros. BBQ, Bruster’s Ice Cream, Siam Square and more to tempt your taste buds and fill your senses.

There will be acoustic music from Scott Thompson entertaining patrons from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. adjacent to the Veteran’s Memorial.  The evening will be topped off with a live concert featuring the Francisco Vidal Band from 7:00-9:00.

There will be an enormous Kids Zone with interactive inflatables featuring the 33’ Shark Slide, Euro Bungee Quad Jump, 24’ Rockwall, 120’ Roller Coaster Obstacle Course, and much more.

The anticipated attendance, weather permitting, is expected to be over 20,000 people.  The Smyrna Education Foundation will be handling and benefit from water and soft drink sales.  Plan to sample all Smyrna’s finest restaurants, visit the beer garden and wine tasting, and listen to music all day long all on the beautiful Village Green and Market Village award winning properties.

SMOKE ON THE LAKE BBQ FESTIVAL

2013_smoke_logoThe Barbecue season kicks off the year with one of the first competitions in north Georgia. More than 30 teams will fill up Cauble Park in downtown Acworth on Friday May 10, from 6:00 p.m., to 10:00 p.m., and Saturday May 11, from 10:00 a.m., to 4:00 p.m. Admission to the festival is free and free parking can be found downtown with free shuttles running Friday night and all day Saturday.

Friday May 10, Sons of Sailors, a Jimmy Buffett tribute band takes to the Day’s Chevrolet stage at 8:00 p.m. Reserved tables that seat six can be purchased for $50. The Georgia Barbecue Association BBQ cooking competition will continue all night along the banks of beautiful Lake Acworth and the event will open back up to the public on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. You can visit the Taster’s Tent to taste all the BBQ you desire, as the Taster’s Choice award will be decided by patrons of the event. Tickets to taste the backyard teams BBQ will be on sale for a nominal charge.

Activities for the kids will be in the Kids Zone and the music that we all know and love will be played acoustically as Scott Thompson of Peachtree Station will perform from 11:00 a.m., to 3:00 p.m., on Saturday with the awards given out immediately following the finals of the cook competition at 4:00 p.m.

After several weekends of rain – we hear Mother Nature has a wonderful sunny weekend in store!
