tasteacworthSuperior Plumbing LogoThe Superior Plumbing Taste of Acworth will take place in the Historic District on Main Street, Saturday, October 15th from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.  Acworth Business Association and the City of Acworth sponsor this coveted event every year that benefits numerous local schools and charities in our community.  Approximately 20,000 visitors tasted their way through this collection of delicacies last year and it is expected to evolve tremendously this year.

jdbbqThe festivities will showcase 150 booths from local restaurants and businesses that demonstrate what they do best.  There will be a local entertainment stage, complete with a dog show which begins at 3:30 pm,, children’s activities, lots of food, and more!

Don’t miss the Taste of Acworth, Carrabbas Culinary Competition where teams of three or four students, representing North Paulding High School, North Cobb High School and Kell High School will be competing for cash prizes.  Judging will take place at 12:40pm and all prize money will be awarded immediately following. There is a total of $2000 in prize money.

Admission is FREE!  An array of diverse restaurants will be offering food samples from $1:00 to $4.00 to satisfy every palate.  Parking will be available throughout town, at McCall Primary School, Acworth Methodist Church, and Acworth First Baptist Church.  Come hungry, bring the kids, bring the pooch, and join in the fun!

Come listen to our students from our local dance studios and surrounding schools as they entertain us with dance and music plus the Shreeps and Ollie Duo on the Depot Stage.

SAT OCT 11 – HILLGROVE NJROTC 5K – Hillgrove NJROTC will be hosting a fundraising run, a portion of the proceeds being donated to the Shepherd’s Men. The race will begin at 8:00 a.m., and will be held on the campus of Hillgrove High School. This Peachtree Road Race qualifier (# GA14067WC) Early registration, up to Sept. 28, is $20, late registration, from Sept. 29- Oct. 5, is $25, and race day.

SAT OCT 11 – OPEN HOUSE AT GREENRIDGE STABLES – 12-3 pm.  Come for fun, food, face painting, special music and prizes for all.  Check their website: www.greenridgestables.com for schedule of demonstrations, which include: Dressage and Jumping, Tackless Riding, Natural Horsemanship, Sword Fighting on Horses and more.  The Stables are located five minutes north of Cedarcrest Rd, off Hwy-41 at 55 East Greenridge Rd., Cartersville.

SAT OCT 11 – FALL-O-WEEN – The City of Kennesaw’s Parks & Recreation Department is hosting its annual Fall-O-Ween Fest starting at 5 pm. Swift-Cantrell Park will be transformed into “Spook-Central Park.” Come dressed in your Halloween costumes and enjoy activities including inflatables and amusements, carnival games, a Trick-or-Treat Trail, children’s crafts, and impressive pumpkin displays. Concessions will be available for purchase. Monster Mash Dance Party from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Zombie judges will be awarding prizes every half-hour to their favorite costumed participants. After sundown, the City of Kennesaw’s 2014 Outdoor Movie Series concludes with a free screening of The Goonies (Rated PG). Swift-Cantrell Park is located at 3140 Old 41 Highway. SAT OCT 11 – 165TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION 7PM – Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church is the oldest historical church in Kennesaw and is celebrating its 165th anniversary.  Concert featuring local artist and Mount Zion’s Music Director, Ahmad Hall.  The celebration continues on Sunday, October 12th with two worship services at 7:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. with dinner following in the chapel.  Mt. SAT-SUN OCT 11-12 – MARIETTA CHALKFEST – Presented by the Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art, ChalkFest has been expanded to feature over 40 contracted, professional chalk artists from around the country, who will draw in front of spectators from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Admission to Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art will be free during Marietta ChalkFest. The Chatov Retrospective: 100 Years of Painting and Atlanta Fine Arts League exhibitions will also be on display inside the museum during Marietta ChalkFest. FRI OCT 5 – MARIETTA TREE KEEPERS – SIP N’ STROLL – The event features a special neighborhood to tour with tree experts, identifying common opportunities and issues relating to trees. It’s free and open to the public … and it’s BYOB. For this Sip n’ Stroll, we will stroll through the property of Ivey Grove at 473 Cherokee St, Marietta, 30060 Certified arborists, forester and landscape architects will lead the tour of the neighborhood, pointing out the many treasures and challenges that exist among our valuable stock of trees.  Visitors are welcome to bring their own evening refreshments and MTK

SAT OCT 5 – “ADOPTATHON” – Hosted by Cobb County Animal Control – from 10am-4pm. SUN. OCT 13 – KHMS HOMECOMING PARADE – 2:00pm, downtown Kennesaw.  Celebrate Homecoming week for Kennesaw Mountain High School by attending the parade.  Then buy a ticket and attend the homecoming game on Friday, October 18th at 7:30 against Hillgrove High.

SUN OCT 13 6:00 PM. KENNESAW SUNDAY SUPPERS. Last Sunday Supper at the Plaza. October 13, 6pm with smoked pork BBque, smoked turkey, smoked chicken with potato salad, cole slaw, apple cobbler.The theme is a Hoe Down Kennesaw Style. Come dressed western attire.  Tickets $25.
