What’s Happening This Week! July 11- July 18

We might be in the lazy, hazy days of summer, however for those of you who are still in town here  is what’s happening this week July 11-July 18.

 

motownA Strand Musical Revue
The Strand is celebrating its fifth annual Motown musical revue with fan favorite The Motown Sound in July 2015! With each passing year, the praise for the Motown revue grows, making each year a bigger smash hit that the last. With an extensive catalog of Motown hits to choose from, The Motown Sound whisks audiences back to the 1960s and 70s with the feel-good hits of the much celebrated Motown era.
Audiences are sure to enjoy the big hair, colorful fashions, and soulful sounds of Stevie Wonder, Martha & the Vandellas, Marvin Gaye, the Temptations, and Gladys Knight & The Pips in this high-energy, high-excitement musical revue that is unlike any other experience in the area.
The Motown Sound will run from July 3rd through July 26th on Friday & Saturday nights at 8pm, with Sunday matinees at 3pm. Shows tend to sell out so secure your tickets fast!

FaithClineElfTrotBIGSAT JUL 11 – FAITH CLINE ELF TROT 5K – Sponsored by KDDA, benefitting the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. The Merry Mile Fun Run-7:30 am and the Elf Trot 5k-8:00 am. Pre-Registration $25, online at www.active.com or postmarked and mailed in by July 2. Late registration is $30 and race day registration is $35.  Not registered yet, we are taking walk-ups on Saturday morning 6:45 until 7:30.  At the Kennesaw First Baptist Church on Main Street.

SAT JULY 11 ETOWAH GAMES DAY 10-4.  Learn about games that early Native Americans played and how they have influenced modern games and sports.  Play lawn darts, chunky and other simple games.  At Etowah Indian Mounds, Cartersville, GA. $2 for children up to 5 years old, $4 for youth 6-17 years old, and $6  for adults. SAT JUL 11- METRO MONTAGE XV opens at the Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art.  This is the annual juried art show that will run through September 6.
