FRI AUG 23 GLOVER PARK CONCERT SERIES featuring Mo’Soul Band playing R&B and Motown. Blankets and lawn chairs may be set up in the park. Personal tables and plastic ground coverings are not permitted in the park, however they may be set up on the street after 5:30 p.m. Bring a picnic dinner (beer & wine is permitted) or dine in one of the many fine restaurants located on the square. All concerts begin at 8:00 (rain or shine) and are held in Glover Park on the Historic Marietta Square

FRI&SAT AUG 23-24 PIGS AND PEACHES BBQ FESTIVAL hosted by the City of Kennesaw. Festival fans and music lovers will converge in Kennesaw for two days of barbeque bliss at the City of Kennesaw’s Pigs & Peaches BBQ Festival on Friday, August 23, 6 – 10 pm and Saturday, August 24, 10 am – 10 pm at Adams Park. The event will be held rain or shine. Admission is free. FRI AUG 24-SAT SEPT 29 CUT-A-THON FOR AUTISM. Calling all stylists and barbers and their clients. Won’t you join our area salons and barbershops that are teaming up to create autism awareness. Proceeds from our Cut-a-Thon will be used to give products, therapy and guidance,to many families searching for answers. Each shop has their unique way of creating autism awareness. SUN&MON Sept 1 & 2 NOSHFEST – Celebrate our Jewish food and culture as Temple Kol Emeth showcases delicacies and activities unique to Jewish heritage in this fun two-day festival. SAT SPET 7 HUMMINGBIRD BANDING AT SMITH GILBERT GARDEN 8-11 am. Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet Sibley. This little hummingbird was rescued and rehabbed as a juvenile, but could not be released due to permanent injury and has become Atlanta Audubon Society’s ambassador hummingbird. Families will be invited to make hummingbird craft projects in the Rose Garden, enjoy a scavenger hunt, play yard games, and visit Fiona the Owl, courtesy of HawkTalk (additional fee applies). SAT SEPT 7 – PIZZA, PINTS, & PIGSKINS. Pizzerias from all over Cobb will converge on Logan Park Farm in Acworth for good old fashioned food, family fun and games. At Pizza, Pints & Pigskins, games will be televised, ice cold beer will be served in the Beer Garden, and the kid zone will have obstacle courses, bungee jumps and more!  Relax and sing-a-long as acoustic sounds reverberate throughout the event all day, culminating with Yacht Rock Schooner in concert from 8:00 – 10:00 p.m. Tables reservations will be available for the concert through JRM at 770-423-1330.

SAT SEPT 14 ACWORTH’S MOTHER SON CAMP OUT The Acworth Parks, Recreation and Community Resource Department is excited to host our annual Mother-Son Camp Out at Proctor Landing Park on Saturday, September 14 beginning at 1:00 p.m. This event is open to mothers and their sons, 13 and under. THURS. SEPT 19-SUN. SEPT 29 NORTH GEORGIA STATE FAIR. 87th Annual Superior Plumbing Presents the North Georgia State Fair beginning Thursday, Sept. 19, through Sunday, September 29, 2019 at Jim R. Miller Park, 2245 Callaway Rd., Marietta. The fair grounds will be open Monday through Thursday 4 to 11 p.m., Fridays 4 p.m. to midnight Saturdays 10 a.m., to midnight, and Sundays 12:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Gate Admission: $7.00 admission. Children 10 and under are free. Ride tickets are $1.25 each, $20.00 for 21 tickets, $50.00 for 55 tickets and $100 for 120 tickets. All rides require more than one ticket. Parking is $5. Concerts FREE with fair admission. ATM machines are located on the midway. Online advance discount tickets can be purchased for $5.00, with children 10 and under free. FARMER’S MARKETS – LOCAL

MONDAYS May 6 – August 26 KENNESAW FARMER’S MARKET AND DINNER AT THE DEPOT. The Farmer’s Market & Dinner at the Depot  until AUGUST 26th  Hours for FM are 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm. FRIDAYS ACWORTH FARMERS MARKET – NEW LOCATION – The Historic Downtown Acworth Farmer’s Market will begin this season on Friday, April 5 and continue each Friday morning from 8:00 a.m. until noon through Friday, October 25. The market is moving to the Logan Farm Park Expansion Parking lot (4405 Cherokee Street). The Acworth Farmer’s Market is proudly sponsored by the Acworth Downtown Development Authority. THURSDAYS: SOUTHERN MUSEUM MOMMY & ME CLASSES. Join us each Thursday from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm for Mommy & Me! Our program is specifically designed for children aged 3-5 and their caregivers. Discover and explore the world around us through play! Create, experiment, investigate, and learn together. Each week has a different theme, and lots of fun new activities to play with. Cost is included in museum admission and free for museum members.

FRIDAY/SATURDAYS “Lumiere Lounge” (6-10pm) on the second floor at the Strand Theatre Come to the Strand and pay homage to the days of old with a silent film inspired piano bar and lounge! As you sink into a plush couch or join a friend at a café table, the modern world seems to drift away as classic silent films quietly flicker in the background while a live pianist plays. The Lumière Lounge will feature specialty cocktails made with local ‘Hometown Honey’ in addition to a full bar. Lumière is held on the second floor lounge on select Friday and Saturday nights from 6-10pm.
