SAT & SUN – MAY 5-6 MAY-RETTA DAZE ARTS & CRAFTS. The Marietta Parks and Recreation Department invites our community to attend the 42nd Annual May-retta Daze Arts and Crafts Festival held in Glover Park in the Historic Marietta Square on May 5-6, 2018. Sat 10-5; Sun 11-5.
More than 100 local and area artists and craftspeople will display and sell their paintings, pottery, jewelry, and much more at the annual festival. Admission to the festival is free.

FRI MAY 11 MARIETTA TREE KEEPERS SIP N STROLL. 5:00 pm. For this Sip n’ Stroll, we will stroll around the Marietta Square’s Glover Park and adjoining streets. Certified arborists and landscape architects will lead the tour of the neighborhood, pointing out the many treasures and challenges that exist among our valuable stock of trees. Location is Marietta Square’s Glover Park and we will meet at 50 North Park Square, Marietta, GA 30064. FRI MAY 11 MARTINIS AND MUSIC 5:30-8:30 at Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art, 30 Atlanta Street, Marietta. The cost of admission will be ten dollars, with the exception of members who will enter for free. The event aims to create a fun and light atmosphere while enjoying American art and benefiting the local community. There will be a cash only bar with light hor d’oeuvres. An art auction will be held to benefit Hickory Hills Elementary. All of the proceeds from the auction will go directly to Hickory Hills Elementary to help benefit the needs of students.

FRI/SAT MAY 11-12 SMOKE ON THE LAKE BBQ FESTIVAL. The Barbecue season kicks off the year with one of the first competitions in north Georgia. More than 30 teams will fill Cauble Park in downtown Acworth on Friday May 11, from 5:00 p.m., to 10:00 p.m., and Saturday May 12, from 10:00 a.m., to 4:00 p.m. Admission to the festival is free and free parking can be found downtown with free shuttles running Friday night for the concert and all day Saturday. Cauble Park and Lake Acworth has to be one of the most beautiful venues in our area – what better place to hold a family friendly backyard, BBQ competition. FRI SAT SUN – MAY 18-20 MARIETTA GREEK FESTIVAL You’ll pick up the scent of delicious Greek dishes as your palate is tempted by heavenly Greek pastries. Your ears will perk up at the live music, while your eyes gaze upon the authentically costumed dancers as they perform in the South’s only Greek amphitheater! Inside the Agora (marketplace), you’ll have a unique shopping experience courtesy of a multitude of merchants. Outside, your children can participate in various games, activities and crafts in the Kid’s Area. SUN MAY 20 SILENT MOVIES ON THE SILVER SCREEN. Wings (Sunday, May 20, 2018 @ 3:00 PM)  Featuring live accompaniment by Ron Carter on the Mighty Allen Theatre Organ  The first feature film to win an Academy Award for Best Picture, Wings is a 1927 silent classic that tells the story of two men (Buddy Rogers and Richard Arlen) in love with the same woman (Clara Bow). After the U.S. enters World War I, both join the Air Corps to fight in France and their rivalry grows into a wary friendship once they become fellow fighter pilots. SAT MAY 26 MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY Acworth’s Memorial Day Ceremony to honor those who have given their lives in service to our country will be held on Saturday, May 26 at 10:00 a.m. at Veterans Memorial at Patriots Point in Cauble Park. Veterans and current servicemen will pay tribute to brave men and women who have fought and died for our nation. Engraved pavers dedicated to those who have served in our armed forces that have been purchased since the previous Veterans Day will be presented at the event. FARMER’S MARKETS – LOCAL


MONDAYS KENNESAW FARMER’S MARKET 3:30-7:30 PM. The Farmer’s market will offer a variety of fresh vegetables & fruits, baked goods, prepared goods, jams & jellies, locally produced honey and more! The market will be in the circle this season with the food trucks. Some vendors require cash but many take debit/credit cards. Hours for FM are 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm. At the depot in downtown Kennesaw.

MONDAYS DINNER AT THE DEPOT 5:30-8:30 A variety of food trucks will rotate throughout the season. Food trucks take cash, credit and debit cards.There will be live music each week and different types of entertainment throughout the season. There are tables and chairs for guests on site or they are welcome to bring their own chairs and picnic blankets. At the depot in downtown Kennesaw.

TUESDAYS COBB COUNTY FARM BUREAU FARMERS MARKET Lost Mountain Park. We’ll be there every Tuesday from now thru September from 3 – 7 PM. The goal for Cobb County Farm Bureau Farmers Market is to promote agriculture and give consumers an opportunity to connect with local farmers and businesses. Our vendors grow/produce all of their products. I appreciate your consideration.

FRIDAYS ACWORTH FARMER’S MARKET The Historic Downtown Acworth Farmer’s Market is open for this season  and will continue each Friday morning from 8:00 a.m. until noon through Friday, October 26. The market is located in Historic Downtown Acworth in the Acworth First Baptist Church Parking Lot on the north end of Main Street. The Acworth Farmer’s Market is sponsored by the Acworth Downtown Development Authority. “Lumiere Lounge” (6-10pm) on the second floor at the Strand Theatre Come to the Strand and pay homage to the days of old with a silent film inspired piano bar and lounge! As you sink into a plush couch or join a friend at a café table, the modern world seems to drift away as classic silent films quietly flicker in the background while a live pianist plays. The Lumière Lounge will feature specialty cocktails made with local ‘Hometown Honey’ in addition to a full bar. SATURDAYS  MARIETTA SQUARE ARTISAN MARKET is on Second and Fourth Saturdays.  April through November. The Marietta Square Artisan Market is an open-air showcase of locally-created fine art and premium hand-crafted goods.
