Holiday Open House – Marietta Square – Nov 8

BPlogoMerchants of Historic Downtown Marietta are preparing for their annual Holiday Open House which will take place this year on November 8 from 6-9pm. This annual tradition brings the charm and kicks off the Holiday shopping season at the Square. Extended shopping hours continue every Friday evening until 8pm through December 20th. Marietta’s unique local shops offer a wide selection of gift ideas from vintage sound systems to original fine art, and everything in between.

Vintage-ology owner Karen Petelik says, “We look forward to Holiday Open House and the Candlelight Shopping evenings every year. We enjoy spoiling our customers with Holiday treats. This year a lucky shopper will win a gift basket.”

High Cottage will have those coveted Ron Ransom wooden Santa sculptures. Ransom is a renowned local wood carver with over 25 years of experience carving his delightful Santas. In addition to creating these Christmas icons, Ransom has authored ten books on wood carving. His unique artistry has earned him a spot teaching at the John C. Campbell folk school in North Carolina for the past 18 years. Ransom’s beloved carved Santas are collected by loyal fans all over the world, but they are available exclusively at High Cottage in the Marietta Square.
The Marietta Wine Market will host a wine tasting with light hors d’oeuvres on that evening and will offer featured sale items to kick off the holiday season.

Antiques on the Square will have a special package deal available for the Open House that will include an Audio Technica LP60 Turntable; Dayton Audio B652 Bookshelf Speakers and Dayton Audio DTA-1 Desktop Amplifier. With the current trend toward vinyl records, this is an EXCELLENT starter system. Says Antiques on the Square owner Jim Kumpe, “it is a high-quality, easy-to-use turntable, highly rated speakers, and a very high-quality, but physically compact, amplifier. This package is small enough in size, to fit onto virtually any desktop or shelf, while capable of producing ‘big’ sound- far superior sound, and far less record wear, compared to most ‘all in one’ turntable-speaker systems. For this event, we will have a special price of $235.00 plus tax.”

Ye Olde Christmas & Candy Shoppe: In addition to their well-known delicious fudge, chocolates and nostalgia candies, Ye Olde Christmas & Candy Shoppe will feature the highly-collected Department 56 Villages, Byer’s Choice Carolers and Gingerbread Houses along with Christopher Radko ornaments for sale.

The Vineyard Gift Shop will keep the excitement going with raffles throughout the evening and a free gift with every purchase. They are known for their catering menu, and will offer tasty bites to shoppers during the Open House.
You might not traditionally think of a hair salon when you think Holiday shopping, but gift certificates to Hair Art Day Spa make great gifts! A live band and tasty treats are on tap for a festive evening.
