Miss Georgia and Miss Georgia’s Outstanding Teen Week Now

Cobb County's Miss Georgia's contestantWe know all of our past winners of the Miss Cobb County title and our Miss Cobb Teen representatives have wonderful and special memories of their year on the Miss Georgia stage. We very much appreciate the fabulous job that each of you did representing Cobb County. The Miss Cobb cheering section was so proud to see you light up the Miss Georgia stage each night.

Once again Cobb County has outstanding young women in Columbus – Taylor Voyles, Miss Cobb County 2014, and Anna Tucker, Miss Cobb County’s Outstanding Teen 2014. They arrived in Columbus today and have registered for one of the biggest weeks of their life.

Miss Cobb County Teen, Miss Georgia PageantThis is the 70th anniversary celebration for the Miss Georgia Pageant and many of the past Miss and Teen winners will be on hand to help with the celebration. There will be a special talent show on Saturday June 21 at l p.m. to feature many of the past Miss Georgia winners and Teen winners.

We are not sure who all will be in attendance but we understand Addie Hampton, our 2003 Cobb representative and winner of the Georgia Teen title in 2003 will sing the National Anthem to start the preliminaries on Wednesday night. Also our other two state teen winners should be there – Michaela Lackey Best in 2007, and the 2009 winner, Brianna Godshalk. Michaela also had the honor to become Miss Georgia in 2011 and is the only winner so far to hold both the Teen and Miss titles in Georgia.

We look forward to seeing Jeannette Ardell Voyt, Miss Cobb County 1958 and Miss Georgia 1958. Jeannette was the first Miss Cobb County. Marilyn Olley Ashmore, Miss Cobb County and Miss Georgia 1969, also will be there for the celebration, along with Emily Cook, Miss Cobb and Miss Georgia 2009, and Christina McCauley Locandro, Miss Cobb County 2008 and Miss Georgia 2010. Also present will be Lisa Seagroves Nulph, Miss Cobb County 1984 and Miss West Virginia 1988. Lisa is a member of the Miss Georgia Board of Trustees. Hope we did not leave anyone out who will be there.

The 70th anniversary will be an exciting year. Also competing will be Maggie Bridges, Miss Cobb County 2013 and now Miss Capital City 2014, and Katherine McCauley, Miss River City 2014 and sister of Christina McCauley Locandro. Katherine is also our Miss North Georgia State Fair 2013.

We wish the best to all 39 young ladies in the pageant this year.

Looking ahead, the 57th annual Miss Cobb County Scholarship Pageant will take place at the Jennie T. Anderson Theatre, Cobb County Civic Center, on
Saturday, September 6, at 7 p.m. Mark your calendar to join the excitement.
