Mothers and Magnolias Tea

Rich’s department store was THE department store of it’s time. As some remember, it was the place where women would go to socialize. There was food, a fashion show and an excuse to dress up in finery.

The Marietta Museum of History is recreating the famous Magnolia Room for a Mother’s Day tea and luncheon. There will be original Magnolia Room recipes and the event will be highlighted by a fashion show led by Carol Westbrook. A former fashion assistant in the early 1970’s at Rich’s Fashion & Fabric office and current owner of The Magnolia Room Antiques Market in Marietta.

The event will also feature Rich’s historian and author of Rich’s: A Southern Institution, Jeff Clemmons. Clemmons will ignite your imagination with stories and history on the Atlanta hot spot where Georgia ladies went to see and be seen!
Dress as they did in your finest pearls, hats and gloves and join us for an afternoon of honoring mothers and of remembering when…. The Mother’s Day tea and luncheon will be held on Saturday, May 11 from 1-3 pm., in the Virginia Tumlin Community Room at the Marietta Museum of History. 1 Depot St., Marietta, GA 30060.  Tickets are available for $40 at
