Kennesaw Tree Lighting
Join Mayor Easterling and other city officials at the Depot on Cherokee St (across from the museum) downtown Kennesaw on Tuesday, November 28 for the time-honored tradition of “flipping the switch” to illuminate the official Christmas tree. The free hour-long program begins at 6:00 pm and will include festive choral music and sing-along, light refreshments, and plenty of holiday cheer. Santa Arrives in Style

SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO MARIETTA –  NOV 30

The City of Marietta’s Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to host its annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in conjunction with the arrival of Santa Claus on Thursday, November 30, 2017 in Glover Park on the Marietta Square.

The fun begins at 4:00pm on Thursday, November 30 with performances by local school choruses. Santa makes his exciting grand entrance via a City of Marietta firetruck at 5:20pm followed by the lighting of the City’s Christmas Tree at 6pm. Additionally, children can meet Santa until 8pm that evening, as Santa must leave. to make his way back to the North Pole!
Families will now have the option of booking their Santa visit online (not available December 1st), while walkups will still be welcome. This year Santa will also be visiting with our furry friends, details are available on the website.

Starting December 1, 2017, the Santa Experience is brought to you by the Marietta Square Branding Project. Through their http://www.winterwonderlandmarietta.com/, you can book appointments with “The Classic Santa” or with “Santa.” While both Santas are the real deal, “Classic Santa” is the jolly fellow who has been on the Marietta Square for almost 20 years! “Santa” is the jolly fellow who may interact on a personal level with your children if you provide some details in the booking process.

Acworth’s Santa’s Arrival

It’s that special time again! The City of Acworth is excited to be partnering with NorthStar Church to make this year’s Santa’s Arrival the best yet!  Santa will be reaching downtown Acworth on Friday, December 1st.  Festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m. and Santa is scheduled to arrive at 6:30 p.m. There will be a host of live performances until 9:00 p.m. to help Santa kickoff the holiday season.

Bring the entire family to hear Mayor Tommy Allegood read The Night Before Christmas and watch the lighting of the tree on Senator Russell Avenue. This year’s festivities will take place in front of Acworth City Hall and on the Plaza.

Enjoy pictures with Santa, eating candy canes with all his elves, and filling the streets with the holiday spirit. Plan on bringing your camera to capture the special moment, as there will be no photographer on-site. There will be train rides, marshmallow roasting, and hot chocolate.  Don’t forget to visit Frana Brown Park, where you can enjoy the beautiful Festival of Trees!

Kennesaw’s Santa Parade and Holiday Activities

The City of Kennesaw will usher in the holiday season on Saturday, December 2 with a Main Street parade featuring marching bands, decorated floats, vintage cars, colorfully-costumed characters, and Santa Claus himself.
The parade begins at noon near the intersection of Park Drive and Main Street, proceeding south and east down Main Street, marching past Cherokee Street toward Cemetery Street.
The celebration continues at Depot Park, 2828 Cherokee Street, until 6 pm with A Day with Santa presented by WellStar Health Systems. Activities include a snow playground, inflatables and amusements, kid’s crafts, visits with Santa, stage entertainment, and a holiday market full of gift ideas and unique merchandise. Food vendors will be onsite.
Event organizers are seeking vendors, as well as accepting entries for the parade at adaywithsanta.com. Entries will be judged and prizes will be awarded in several categories. SMOKE ON THE LAKE BBQ FESTIVAL

SMOKE ON THE LAKE BBQ FESTIVAL
PRESENTED MAY 12-13 2017

The Barbecue season kicks off the year with one of the first competitions in north Georgia. Over 30 teams will fill up Cauble Park in downtown Acworth on Friday May 12, from 5:00 p.m., to 10:00 p.m., and Saturday May 13, from 10:00 a.m., to 4:00 p.m. Admission to the festival is free and free parking can be found downtown with free shuttles running Friday night for the concert and fireworks and all day Saturday. Cauble Park and Lake Acworth has to be one of the most beautiful venues in our area – what better place to hold a family friendly backyard, BBQ competition.

You can smell the North Cobb Rotary Smoke on the Lake BBQ Festival from miles around.  This event is in its eighth year offering lots of cash and prizes for the BBQ competition, the Lord of the Wings and the People’s Choice.  Over 8,000 people are expected to visit!

The best Jimmy Buffett Tribute Band, Sons of Sailors takes the stage on Friday night at 8:00 p.m., for the LGE Community Credit Union Concert Under the Stars. All ages will enjoy this show as they will be playing all your favorite Parrot Head songs. Fireworks will finish the night – shot over beautiful Lake Acworth.  General Admission is free on Friday night and tables of six can be purchased for $100, price includes your table and six chairs for the whole crew. Inflatables will be in place for kids of all ages. Slide down a giant 24-foot inflatable slide, jump on a huge obstacle course, shoot hoops in the bouncy basketball jumpy and others. Face painting will be available as well.

Visit the beer and wine tent as adult beverages will be available for the concert Friday night and Saturday during the BBQ competition.
Lord of the Wings and People’s Choice Pork BBQ Competitions are judged by the Public

These two competitions have the largest direct impact on our community. The funds raised thru taster tickets sold to the public are used for multiple Rotary charity efforts. Your support is highly encouraged and needed – and it’s fun!

Lord of the Wings: Take part in the crowning of the Lord of the Wings Competition on Friday night as cook teams cook up their best recipe of the good old chicken wing!

People’s Choice Award: Come enjoy barbecue you can’t buy at any old store and help us decide who makes the best backyard BBQ Pork around. For a nominal charge you can purchase tastes of all the backyard teams competing in the competition all day on Saturday.
Admission:    Parking downtown, shuttles and event admission are all FREE.

Pokemon Art on the Square: August 5 and More.

FRI. AUG 5 Marietta Square Art Walk continues August 5th with a new adventure.  Art Walk visitors can “catch ‘em all” (Pokémon ART, that is) throughout the The Marietta Square. Artists will hide small Pokémon themed works throughout town for visitors to find and take home! We’ll post clues about their location on our Facebook page throughout the evening. Finders, Keepers!!! Acworth’s Back to School Family Movie Night

gooniesThe City of Acworth along the Acworth Business Association will be holding a FREE “Back to School Family Movie Night” on Friday, July 31.  Come out to the football fields at the Acworth Sports Complex after a long week and watch The Goonies.  This classic from 1985 sends a group of misfits on a journey to find a pirate’s ancient treasure to save their home from foreclosure.

The gates will open at 7:00 p.m. and the movie will begin at dark.  So bring out your lawn chairs, a blanket and cooler…a great night is guaranteed!  Concessions will be available.

Celebrate the Fourth of July all Weekend!

FRI JULY 3 KENNESAW’S FOURTH OF JULY – The City of Kennesaw’s Salute to America, Independence Day celebration will be held on Friday, July 3, and will feature FREE, high-energy live music and  talented entertainers, plus one of the biggest and brightest star-spangled firework displays in North Georgia. The event is scheduled from 6 to 10 p.m. in downtown Kennesaw. From 6 – 7:30 pm on the DEPARTUREfeature stage in Depot Park, the United States Air Force Band of the West’s Concert Band will perform. This 45 member ensemble of Air Force professional musicians have a music repertoire from the Renaissance to the present day, featuring classical and Broadway music as well as Sousa marches and popular hits. From 8 – 9:30 pm, DEPARTURE, arguably the best, most respected Journey tribute band in the nation, plays all the hits of the ‘80s rock super group. The Atlanta-based band was voted “Best Local Entertainer” in 2014 by Gwinnett Magazine. Fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m., and will be visible from several locations throughout downtown Kennesaw.  This event is free.

flashbackSAT JULY 4 – ACWORTH’S FOURTH OF JULY, Let Freedom Ring Live music and fireworks at Cauble Park. Live music with the Shreeps from 4-5; Paul Hand Band will start at 5:15 p.m. leading up to headliners “FLASHBACK” at 8:00 p.m. Fireworks will begin at approximately 9:40 p.m. Stay for more FLASHBACK until 11:00 pm. Admission to the concert is free; however tables are available for the July 4 concert. Tables are $50 each for City of Acworth residents and $70 for non-residents. With the table you get 6 chairs and one parking pass. This parking pass will allow you to park at Cauble Park as long as spots remain available. Parking at Cauble Park is by pass only on July 4 but you are not guaranteed a parking spot at Cauble Park with this pass so please plan on arriving early.

Grab your American flag, put on your red, white and blue, and celebrate America’s independence July 4, from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. with an Independence Day parade and celebration on the Square, free live concerts, arts and crafts show, food, carnival games and Superior Plumbing fireworks finale. Throughout the day, more than 80,000 people are expected to celebrate on the Square with great food, fun activities, the best arts and crafts around and free entertainment from different local entertainers and even Universal Republic Nashville Records country star- David Fanning presented by 94.9 The Bull.  Plan on spending the day and enjoy shopping over 100 craft vendors, food concessions, a Kid’s Zone, concerts and fireworks.  Fireworks scheduled for 9:30 pm.

SAT. JULY 4 POWDER SPRINGS FOURTH OF JULY 4:00 PM. Festivities start in downtown Powder Springs at 4:00 p.m. Free Admission, Free Parking, Free concerts, and Free Fireworks. Patriotic Program and Fireworks at 9:30 pm.

FRI MAR 27 – ACWORTH EGG HUNT – The City of Acworth and Freedom Church invite your family to their Easter Egg Hunt. The event will take place at the Acworth Sports Complex, 4000 South Main St. The egg hunt will be held on the baseball fields and we ask all participants to please park on the baseball side of the complex. Gates and concessions open at 6:30 p.m. The Easter Bunny will be arriving just before the first hunt begins! SAT APR 4 NORTHEAST COBB COMMUNITY EGG DROP. 10:00 am Bring the whole family out for the 6th Annual Northeast Cobb Community Egg Drop presented by Piedmont Church and Superior Plumbing and get ready as more than 90,000 eggs and pieces of candy are spread out and dropped from a helicopter at the football fields at Sprayberry High School April 4, 2015! Free admission and ample free parking will be available at Sprayberry High School. Food will also be available to purchase from the Sprayberry Football Booster Club and all other proceeds from the event go to support both the Shop with a Yellow Jacket and the Shop with a Longhorn programs for Sprayberry and Kell High Schools.

SAT APR 4 – KFBC EGGSTRAVAGANZA – The congregation at Kennesaw First Baptist Church invites the public to celebrate Easter with them from 3-5 PM as their popular Eggstravaganza will be held once again – Free Fun!
