Fun Events for Through May 4!

Art_WalkLooking for a fun free activity for you and your family — in Acworth, Kennesaw, or Marietta for the next few days?  Take a look here – chose from an Arts and Crafts show, Marietta Cobb Arts Museum, Oklahoma at the Jennie T. THU APR 30 – SOLAR ENERGY 101 – Cobb EMC invites you to learn how solar energy systems work and enter for your chance to win prizes! Light refreshments will be served. Free admission. Registration is required – register at Begins at 6pm in the Cobb EMC community room.

FRI, MAY 1, Martinis & Music Night at Marietta Cobb Arts Museum. 5:30 – 8:30pm  Walk through the galleries, meet new people, and enjoy some fantastic drinks. We will have hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. FRI MAY 1 – MARIETTA SQUARE ART WALK The 8th Annual Marietta Square Art Walk continues on May 1, 2015, and is held each first Friday through November. Art lovers enjoy an evening stroll through the charming streets of Marietta Square during this free, self-guided tour featuring local art and live music. Art Walk is currently accepting applications. Oklahoma! at Jennie T. AndersonFRI, SAT, SUN – May 1-3 OKLAHOMA presented by the Cobb County Center for Performing Arts at the Jennie T Anderson Theater.  With Rogers and Hammerstein’s timeless music Oklahoma! celebrates the vigor of America’s pioneering spirit with athletic dance and boot-stomping energy.  May 1: 8:00 pm; May 2: 3:00 pm & 8:00 pm; May 3: 3:00 pm.  Tickets are $15.  For ticket information go to

SAT MAY 2 – CEMETERY CLEAN UP – The Kennesaw Cemetery Preservation Commission is hosting a clean-up and beautification day calleThe cemetery is located at Main and Cemetery Streets downtown.  Cleaning materials (except gloves) will be supplied.  Free lunch and drinks as well as live entertainment are also provided.  All are welcomed to come and participate. If cancelled due to rain, the event will be held on May 16.

SAT MAY 2 Marietta Civil War Hospitals Walking Tour, hosted by Marietta Museum of History. Join noted Civil War Historian, Brad Quinlin on a tour of the Marietta Square like you have never before experienced.  Step back in time to what Marietta was like over 150 years ago.  Explore the Square when it was occupied first by the Confederate and then the Union Armies.  Learn about the buildings that became hospitals, the businesses that supplied the armies, and the citizens who lived during these dramatic events. Cost: $15 per ticket. Where: Tours begin at the Marietta Museum of History. When: Saturday, May 2 from 2-3:30 p.m.

SAT MAY 2 – OUTDOOR MOVIE – Kennesaw Parks & Recreation announces the return of its free Outdoor Movie Series at Swift-Cantrell Park with The Book of Life. The 2015 series is presented by WellStar. Arrive at 6 p.m. for pre-movie entertainment, giveaways and outdoor fun. Moviegoers should bring a blanket or low-back chairs. SAT MAY 2 – MAVERICK 5K – The McClure Middle School Foundation is excited to announce our 1st annual Maverick 5K! Enjoy an exhilarating, chip timed, 5K run or 1 mile walk through the track & trails of Kennesaw Mountain High School (KMHS). Participants of all ages and abilities are welcome. runnerSAT MAY 2 – POKER RUN – Please join us for our first ever Poker Run, which is being held to help combat PTSD by raising funds for Service Dogs for Warriors. Registration starts at 8 AM to 10 AM at North Star Church at 3413 Blue Springs Rd., Kennesaw. Entry fee is $25 per bike and $10 for a passenger. SAT MAY 2 – AGING BY DESIGN SUMMIT & EXPO – All are welcomed ($5 per person and includes lunch) to learn about issues that impact older adults. SAT&SUN May 2-3 MAY-RETTA Daze Arts & Craft Festival hosted by Marietta Parks and Recreation. MARIETTA – More than 100 local and area artists and craftspeople will display and sell their paintings, pottery, jewelry, woodwork, glass, floral designs and much more at the annual festival. The festival will be held Saturday, May 2nd from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday, May 3rd from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission to the festival is free and there is free parking available in the Cobb County parking garage.

MON MAY 4 – ABA GOLF TOURNAMENT – The ABA is set to have the Ft. Lauderdale Scramble start at 9 a.m. at the beautiful Bentwater Golf Club. Registration for golfers is $100 or $400 for each foursome. Includes greens fees, carts, goodie bags, breakfast and snacks, lunch and a silent auction at the conclusion of the round of golf. Register online at, click golf tournament under the events menu.

Harvest-vegetablesMON MAY 4 till FALL FARMER’S MARKET AND FOOD TRUCK NIGHT Mondays just got better in Kennesaw as  the Farmer’s Market will move to Monday nights combining the Market with Food Truck Mondays at the Depot in downtown Kennesaw. The two events will coincide each Monday starting May 4th and will continue every Monday night through the fall. The event times are staggered so that those wanting to get in and out of the Farmer’s Market without visiting the Food Trucks will be able to do so, while those looking to attend both events will be accommodated as well. The Farmer’s Market will run from 3 pm to 7 pm and the Food Trucks will operate from 6 pm to 9 pm.
