MAY-RETTA DAZE ARTS AND CRAFTS – MAY 5 & 6
The Marietta Parks and Recreation Department would like to invite our readers to the 42nd Annual May-retta Daze Arts and Crafts Festival held in Glover Park in the Historic Marietta Square on May 5-6, 2018. More than 100 local and area artists and craftspeople will display and sell their paintings, pottery, jewelry, and much more at the annual festival.

May-retta Daze is an annual, two-day arts and crafts festival held the first weekend in May. The festival draws artists and craftspeople from many Southern states, as well as local Georgia artists. In addition to a wide variety of arts and crafts items, the festival also includes children’s activities and free entertainment on the stage.

The show setting is at Glover Park in the historic Marietta Square. The Square is the home of many antique and specialty stores, excellent restaurants and interesting things to do.

FRI MAY 4 – MARIETTA ART WALK – 5:30-9:00.  Art Walk celebrates the vitality of Marietta’s diverse cultural Arts scene with artists, businesses, and organizations representing avariety of artistic disciplines. FRI MAY 4 MARIETTA SPRING POPS CONCERT 8:00 PM presented by Symphony on the Square at the Strand Theatre, on the Square in Marietta. Tickets are sale at www.sotsmusic.org for $20.00. Enjoy a wonderful evening of music listening to popular favorites including a tribute to Henry Mancini .

SAT MAY 5 OUTDOOR MOVIE. Come see Oscar winning Coco at Swift Cantrell Park. It doesn’t get much better than FREE, family-friendly movies in the park! Arrive at 6 p.m. for pre-movie entertainment, giveaways and outdoor fun. Cancellations may occur due to weather conditions. SAT MAY 5 “EMBRACE”- A Worship Celebration for Women Featuring Babbie Mason Live 1-3 Northwest Christian Church. We invite you to join us for this special event for women on Saturday, May 5th from 1-3pm at Northwest Christian Church. You’ll experience Christ-centered worship music led by Babbie Mason, God-honoring testimonies, and a huge dose of encouragement as we celebrate what Jesus has done for us. TUES APR 9 Starting Your Spring Garden – sponsored by The Green Meadows Preserve Community Garden will be presented by Amy Whitney, Cobb Cooperative Extension Program Assistant in Horticulture, Master Gardener,   Based on Amy’s years of experience and teaching, this class will provide gardeners with the basics of what, how, when, and where to plant in the areas available to them.  Amy and other Cobb County Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer questions and field comments from the audience.  “Starting Your Spring Garden” is free and will be held at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, April 9th, in the smaller Parks & Recreation Building near the Boots Ward Recreation Center at Lost Mountain Park, 4845 Dallas Highway, 30127.

WED APR 10 MARIETTA COUNCIL OF GARDENS 9:30 am.The Marietta Council of Garden Clubs invites you to their monthly meetings. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced gardener looking to get involved in community projects, all are welcome. . Come and socialize and listen to this month’s program on  ‘Introduction to Ikebana’.  The speaker is Donna Scott, a Certified Instructor from the Ichiyo School of Ikebana.  The meeting also informs you on what the garden clubs are doing in the Marietta area. THU APR 11 MBA Luncheon at the Mansour Center (11:30am-1pm)- Join the MBA each month on the second Thursday of the month at the Mansour Center at 995 Roswell Rd NE, Marietta, Ga. 30060 from 11:30am until 1:00pm. Lunch is free for members, $15.00 for “No-Frills” members and $20.00 for guests.

SAT APR 13 MARIETTA TREE KEEPERS APRIL TREE PLANTING. 8:30 AM Calling for volunteers of all ages to come out and assist Marietta Tree Keepers as we maintain Hill Park on Saturday, April 13, 2013. Meet at Hill Pocket Park, 144 Lemon Street, Marietta, GA 30060 (corner of Lemon Street and Waddell St. behind the Bank of America on Cherokee St.) The event begins at 8:30am with sign-in and refreshments and we will plant trees from 9:00-11am.  Large groups please call ahead and let us know how many volunteers are attending. SAT APR 13 Life of the Common Soldier in the Civil War.  The Kennesaw Historical Society and the Southern Museum are sponsoring a lecture entitled “Life of the Common Soldier in the Civil War”, with David Chastain.  The program will start at 2:00, and will be in the Kennesaw Depot. It is free to the public. Parking is available behind the Museum if the Depot lot is full.

SAT APR 13 Marietta Square Artists Market: Where All the Arts Come Alive! The Marietta Square Artists Market is excited to begin its 3rd annual market season, opening April 13th, 2013.    The Artists Market is a juried, open-air market located on Mill Street between Church Street and the railroad tracks, Open every 2nd and 4th Saturday from April to November, 9:00am to 2:00pm, rain or shine. All fine artists are encouraged to apply!
