Spring is just around the corner and two of Marietta’s popular events are accepting applications to participate.  And MTK’s always welcomes helpers.


The Marietta Parks and Recreation Department invites artists to participate in the 42nd Annual May-retta Daze Arts and Crafts Festival held in Glover Park in the Historic Marietta Square on May 5-6, 2018.

More than 100 local and area artists and craftspeople will display and sell their paintings, pottery, jewelry, and much more at the annual festival.

To register to sell items at the event, please review the requirements and print out the form and mail it to the Parks and Recreation Department located on the 3rd Floor of City Hall, 205 Lawrence St., Marietta, GA, 30061. The form is online at

The Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art is calling all artists to submit an original work that has been created within the past 10 years and has not been shown at MCMA. Deadline for submissions is April 20 at 11:59. Works will be exhibited at the Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art from July 7 until September 9, 2018. Visit for submission requirements and entry forms. Marietta Tree Keepers invites volunteers of all ages to help plant trees in the Marietta City Cemetery on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 9:00am. Tools and refreshments provided. Dress for outdoor weather.
We will be planting trees in the Marietta City Cemetery. The parking address is: Brown Park, 358 West Atlanta St., Marietta, 30064, look for the green signage. You can also drive into the middle of the cemetery and look for our sign-in table at the small white building. The date is Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 9:00am.



City to Host 5k Shamrock Shuffle March 17th to Benefit City’s Police Athletic League

The City of Marietta will host the 2nd Annual 5K Shamrock Shuffle on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 8:00am on the Marietta Square benefitting the Marietta Police Athletic League.

This event will raise money to support the Marietta Police Athletic League’s (PAL) youth athletic programs with needed supplies and equipment. Awards will be given for top qualifiers in each race age group and for best costume. This is also a qualifying AJC Peachtree Road Race event.

The cost to register is $20 for kids 12 and under, $25 for early registration until March 10, 2018 and $30 after March 10th. T-shirts are included in your registration fee but only guaranteed for early registration.  To register visit

About the Marietta PAL Program

The Marietta Police Department began the Marietta Police Athletic League (PAL) chapter in 2007. Marietta PAL is a non-profit organization whose mission is to prevent juvenile crime and violence by providing civic, athletic, recreational and educational opportunities which create trust and build understanding between law enforcement and youth.

SAT JUL 8 – CIVIL WAR ON THE HOMEFRONT EVENT – Join the William Root House Museum & Garden as we travel back to July 1864, when the Root family fled from Marietta, leaving their home to the advancing Union Army. SAT JUL 8 – METRO MONTAGE XVII EXHIBITION – Metro Montage is the MCMA’s annual juried exhibition featuring all types of genre, medium, style, subject matter, concept and/or technique.  Metro features works of fine art by contemporary artists that showcase the diversity within our nation’s culture.  Light refreshments served ~ Cash Bar ~ Opening reception is a benefit of museum membership ~ All future members and other guests are welcome at $10 per person. MON-FRI JUL 10-14 – SUMMER THEATRE CAMPS AT THE STRAND – Theatre Intensive (July 10-14, 9am-12:30pm)-Great opportunity to get deeper into the ins and outs of theatre. A well-rounded student of the arts makes for a better performer — both offstage and on. Parents are invited to the last hour of class on Friday for a showcase of what the students have learned in camp. Ages 11-15 | Price: $125. Peformula (July 10-14, 1pm-3pm)-In the Earl Smith Strand Theatre’s musical theatre laboratory, young performers will focus entirely on music, dance, and drama, discovering the formulas for performing success! The week-long camp will yield a Saturday performance on The Strand stage. Tuition price includes attendance to the Saturday performance and a Performula t-shirt. JUL 10-14 SPEED & AGILITY CAMP JUL 18-20 This summer Acworth Parks and Rec is hosting a Speed and Agility Camp and a Kid’s Football Camp. Both camps are extremely affordable. Marietta Cobb Art Museum accepting Artist Entries

Marietta/Cobb Art Museum Opening Reception – July 20 – 6:00 to 8:00 pm

Marietta/Cobb Art Museum will host an opening reception on Saturday, July 20 from 6-8 pm.  The reception is open to the public.  Guests are welcome at $8 per person and free for Museum members.  Light Refreshments and a cash bar will be available.  While you are at the reception you are welcome to become a member and support the arts in our community.

Metro Montage XIII is MCMA’s annual juried art competition with entries from all over the United States. Curated by The Hunter Museum’s Adera Causey, Metro Montage XIII will not disappoint. Folk Art Visionaries

Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art is proud to present Folk Art Visionaries: This exhibition includes over 60 works by more than 30 regional folk artists. The works range from early face jugs by Georgia’s own Lanier Meaders to the inspired gospel works by the late Howard Finster. MCMA has selected these works from many private collections and fine art galleries. This is the first time these pieces have been exhibited together.
