LITTLE MISS COBB PAGEANT- Feb 6

Little Miss Cobb 2015There is still time to register for this year’s Little Miss Cobb County Pageant.

Young ladies ages 2 years through 18 years are invited to participate in the 25th anniversary Little Miss Cobb County Pageant set for the Marietta Campus, Kennesaw State University,  Joe Mack Wilson Theatre, Marietta, starting at 10:30 a.m., Feb. 6th. Six beauty titles will be awarded that day.

The pageant is managed and conducted to support the Miss Cobb County Pageant, a preliminary for Miss Georgia in the Miss America system.  Emcees for the day will be Brooke Doss,  Miss Cobb County 2016, and Carley Vogel, Cobb County’s Outstanding Teen 2016.

The new Cobb representatives will be goodwill ambassadors and ride in several area parades including the Kennesaw Big Shanty Festival  in April and the Marietta Fourth of July.  A host of prizes include a tiara, banner, trophy, flowers, teddy bear and crown pin. Also the winners will be guests at the North Georgia State Fair and the Miss Cobb County Pageant. A photogenic session and modeling training also await the title holders. Run for Wounded Heroes 5K

Run for Wounded Heroes 5K is the fourth 5K in the Kennesaw Grand Prix Series, and takes place on Saturday, August 1 in downtown Kennesaw.  The race for adults and children benefits the Wounded Warrior Project. Same-day registration and packet pickup at Kennesaw First Baptist Church opens at 6:30 am; a one mile fun run for children starts at 7:30 am with the 5K race beginning at 8 am.  Price is $25 until July 23, $30 til July 30, and $35 on the day of the race – Aug 1.

Thanks to the 1700 runners who participated in the race last year. $20,000 dollars was donated to Wounded Warrior Project, and $1,000 to Kennesaw’s Veterans Luncheon. Over $75,000 has been donated to WWP in 5 years. You have made it very successful. We look forward to seeing everyone again.  Let’s make this 2,000 runners this year.

The race follows a fast, flat route through historic downtown Kennesaw and Swift-Cantrell Park and is fun for beginners and accomplished runners and walkers alike. The route is a USA Track and Field Certified course. Traffic control is coordinated by local law enforcement. The race is electronically timed for fast, accurate results. Race day refreshments are provided for all participants.

Registration is open now at active.com and is available at the Kennesaw Big Peach Running Company location. All registered 5K participants will receive an official race shirt, runner/walker number, and goodie bag.
